Le Petit vélo jaune is a Brussels-based welfare partner that supports around 100 families annually through home-based volunteers, similar to our StapSteen mobile team. They have a very well-developed methodology and a well-developed operation with seven team members. Over the next three years, we will be collaborating with them in Brussels, receiving in-house coaching and financial support, allowing us to employ two part-time staff members in our mobile team.
We connect very well with their vision, values, and approach. Together, we will work hard to help families in Brussels.
As a volunteer organization, Home-Start Flanders offers accessible, preventative family and parenting support at home to families in vulnerable situations, from pregnancy to age 12.
On average, 250 families are supported annually.
Since October 1, 2020, Home-Start Flanders vzw has been an official member of Home-Start Worldwide. This international movement of family support initiatives supports families at home, using the strengths-based and network-building vision and approach of the Home-Start program.
Home-Start Flanders operates in various cities and municipalities and aims to further expand accessible and preventive family support initiatives in Flanders and Brussels. Stapsteen is a partner of Home-Start Flanders: we share the same practical approach to family support provided by volunteers, participate in the Learning Network, and can use the Home-Start platform. We fully support Home-Start Flanders' advocacy efforts to promote preventive family support at home to policymakers.
