"What is important to me during the playing weeks I can say in one word. That word is giving."

Hey

My name is Loïs, I'm 17 years old and I'm starting my studies in social work this year.

I owe my choice of this course of study to Stapsteen.

In the summer of 2020, I went to a play week for the first time and I haven't missed one since.

For me, the play weeks are the place to be myself, creative and with a heart for people.

"The most important thing for me is that all children here feel loved, valued, and important enough to be themselves in peace."

To briefly summarize what's important to me during the play weeks, I can say it in one word. That word is giving. Giving as much as possible, as much time as possible, as much love as possible, as much attention as possible, positive words, peace and patience. Things I'm certain not all children get enough of. If I can give them a little more than they're used to in one week, or a little more of what they desperately need, I've achieved what I want. That all the children feel loved here, valued, and important enough to be themselves in peace is the most important thing to me.

Here I really feel like I can make a difference and see what I mean.
